How to get Rid of Textured Skin

Skin texture refers to the current condition of your skin. For good texture, your skin will be soft, smooth to touch, well hydrated and carry a good balance of natural oils.

Do I Have Textured Skin?
Many of us will know instantly if we have textured skin, if you are unsure, then a few key signals to look out for are coarse, dull, dry, rough or sun-damaged areas. These are all tell-tale signs which mean you have textured skin. During colder months, dry, dullness and rough surfaces are a common issue, so don’t worry as you are not alone!
Applying any sort of make-up can be difficult, unpleasant and can make the problem even worse, hence it is important to treat these areas properly. Here, we have 4 tips to help get your skin looking smooth and soft for this upcoming winter season.

- Exfoliate
Textured skin is essentially caused by a build of dead skin cells which need to be removed from your face and exfoliating is an effective way to do so. You must make sure when choosing a facewash, you opt for one with natural ingredients as some contain additional chemicals which can be harsh on the skin causing outbreaks, redness, and patches of dryness.
When exfoliating it is important to use a clean cloth to ensure none of the dead skin cells are contracting your face again. Alternatively, you could use cotton wool as this has a soft gentle touch on the skin and is a great way to clean you face.

- Hydrate
There are two ways in which to get your skin hydrated – firstly, by using a good moisturizer and secondly, by drinking water.
Moisturizers are an obvious way to combat dry skin and they are most effective when used twice a day. Once in the morning before applying your make-up and once at night before you go to sleep. However, if you struggle to get into a strict routine, it is best to opt for night-time as the skin repairs itself whilst you’re sleeping, allowing the moisture to dig deep into your skin cells to help combat dryness.
Drinking water is another means to eradicate textured skin, as this sends healthy oxidants to your cells, giving them some much needed hydration and ultimately, helps them plump out your skin.

- Nutrition
Diet is a core factor which impacts an array of health problems including textured skin. Ensuring you eat a good range of vitamins from various sources can aid different problems related to textured skin. For example, Omega 3 can help to reduce the appearance of rough looking skin, whilst fruit and vegetables help prevent skin damage.
Making sure you eat a healthy, balanced diet where you are getting a good source of all the bodies essential vitamins, is the best ways to achieve great looking skin.

- Sleep
Sleep is the best natural medicine for the body as during the night is when cells recuperate and repair. If you are lacking on sleep, this gives your cells less time to rejuvenate the skin, hence leading to dull looking skin. So, make sure you are getting your essential hours of beauty sleep!
